Fortunately, at the PhysXtreme gym in Ottawa and Gatineau, the unique combination of our programs, coaches, facility, and our incredible community, allow our members to get amazing results despite having some of all of these concerns before they’ve started with us.
The truth is, you can’t buy a membership at PhysXtreme and not use it because we won’t let you slack, and if we can’t motivate you to stay on track with the program we will terminate your membership and stop taking your money. Training here is a lot less expensive than hiring a personal trainer at some other gym. It costs as little as $10 per session and you’ll get even better results in our groups than with a one-on-one trainer, not to mention you’ll never get bored since our workouts are challenging and fun, and they are always changing.
If your concern is that you don’t know what programs are best for you, you can rest assured that we are here to help. Our programs are made to help you get stronger, leaner, faster, have better conditioning, and are universally scalable to suit any level of fitness. What’s more is that all our coaches are educated, experienced, and ready to help you every step of the way. We also have a registered physiotherapist – one of the top physiotherapists for many of Canada’s national sports teams, nonetheless – on staff that can assess and treat all sorts of injuries and pain.
Like we said, you don’t have to worry about getting bored, unmotivated or hitting a plateau. Our experienced coaches can help you move past all of that with subtle changes to your programming or nutrition. Getting the results you want is not complicated, but it does take hard work!
FAQ
Just like any regular membership. You can sign up any time and get started immediately. We have a great low-cost 6-week intro program that helps people get their feet wet and make the decision about whether or not to commit to a longer membership much easier. If you’re ready now, click here.
Yes, absolutely. It’s a good idea to come in for a trial workout before you join just to make sure it’s a good fit. If you don’t have previous CrossFit experience, you will need to take a series of four fundamentals classes before you can do your trial workout. We have a number of low-cost intro memberships that each start with the four fundamentals classes, and then allow you to take us for a test-drive and evaluate all our programs before you commit to anything long-term. You can set up a trial workout or get one of our low-cost intro memberships by clicking here.
All of our programs are universally scalable. This means, whatever your starting point, we can give you a workout that’s perfectly suited to your current fitness and skill level. Each exercise has technical progressions and regressions that allow us to tailor the movement specifically to you, and if for some reason you simply cannot do a particular exercise, we have hundreds of suitable alternatives so that you can safely train and make progress towards your goals. Everyone moves at his or her own skill and fitness level in our classes.
Yes, very likely. CrossFit is probably your best bang for the buck. Every workout starts with a thorough 15-minute warm-up, followed by a 15- to 20-minute strength or technical practice round, and finishes up with a 5 to 25-minute conditioning WOD (Workout Of the Day). The workout is already prepared when you arrive, you’ll have a coach to guide you safely through the entire workout, and you’ll benefit from our awesome PhysXtreme CrossFit 819 community that’s in the class with you, training with you, and encouraging you to do your best.
That’s the beauty of group training. You’re training with others, many of whom started in the exact same position as you. As you get to know the other people in your group, it will give you strength knowing that they too had similar fears, but they were able to overcome their fears to achieve great things. The truth is that ninety-nine percent of the population will get better results in a group-training environment. There are many factors at play (group energy, motivation, and improved learning). For those who really do need individual attention, we can set you up with one of our personal trainers.
Program design and technical coaching are important in both group and one-on-one settings, but with one-on-one, far too many people over-rely on their trainer for everything. In the end, it can almost be a hand-holding situation in which the client does not participate enough in their own training and progress (i.e. they don’t think much about what they’re doing, and how they’re doing it; rather, they let their trainer just tell them everything). In a group setting, you will learn how to set up your own weights, what weights you should be lifting for the various exercises, and you will become responsible for your own progress as nobody will be holding your hand.
There are four main things that set PhysXtreme apart from other fitness programs: our programs, coaches, facility, and our community. There is simply no other fitness program that delivers a training experience like PhysXtreme. But don’t just take our word for it; take our [6-Week Test Drive] and see for yourself. Experiencing is believing!
Most gym memberships only give you access to the gym. If you actually want to reach your goals, you will likely need to hire a personal trainer, which can cost you between $40-$100 per hour depending on their qualifications and experience. Getting good results usually requires 2-3 sessions a week with your trainer. Add that to the membership price and compare it again to one of our memberships and you’ll soon realize that, for the quality of coaching provided, the atmosphere, and the programming, you simply cannot find a better value anywhere.
No matter what program you follow, it is only as safe as its administration. Our coaches are all certified and/or have extensive personal lifting and coaching experience. All of our programs have suitable exercise and movement regressions to allow for safe execution and subsequent progression.
At PhysXtreme, we understand that life has a way of throwing you off sometimes and so yes, it is possible to hold your membership.
