5 weeks, 5 workouts
The Open : 5 weeks, 5 workouts (maybe that will change with the new format, but it will probably be roughly the same). The 2019 CrossFit Open is right around the corner and for a lot (all) of the coaches around the world it means the same thing : people asking if the should sign up for/do the Open.
So why should you do it?

I mean it’s not like it’s all sunshine and rainbows. It is a grueling test, both physically and mentally. You’re going to stress out about the next workout, it’s going to be announced and your first reaction is probably going to be “Oh God no!”. Then, you will be thinking all day about actually doing it. The time will come and now your heartbeat is probably at 110bpm before the workout has even begun. But then, it all goes away.
All that anxiety fades while you’re moving through the reps, making sure your judge doesn’t call you out on some of them at some point.
Adrenaline does it’s job, you feel invincible. You can do this all day! Fraser Who??
You start to feel your heart rate rising, making you pause more and more and feel every squat more and more…
You’re halfway in and are thinking “What? No way…”. You take a breather to chalk up, walk around, that’s when you see it. All those guys doing the classes with you every week are suffering right alongside you. They’re getting it done, it hurts for them too!

You keep going, chipping away and then you hear “ONE MINUTE LEFT!”. That’s your cue, you gotta go! Then it hits you : It’s just another workout.
You do this all year, go through it every day you walk into the gym. Only now, someone has kindly offered to count your reps for you, you have people cheering you on and people to cheer on, every gym in the world is going to do these exact 5 workouts and for all those reasons : you are going to push yourself to a point you didn’t think you were capable of reaching in the near future. If you won’t take my word for it, ask anybody who has done it in the past and their answer is going to be the same. You only get the results you want through intensity and there’s no time like the Open to find out what it truly means.
So if you want to compare your score worldwide and see where you stand, sing up! If you just want to throw down with your peers and have a good time, we’ll be announcing soon the dates/times we are going to host the Open workouts!
